Community medicine

Through this exciting new program, Earlham students receive not only in-depth training in patient care but also the opportunity to become certified health coaches. Community Medicine is the result of an expanded partnership between the Center for Global Health and Reid Health in Richmond, IN.

Eligible students begin with a seminar course led by Reid physicians and Earlham faculty, exploring topics ranging from nutrition to chronic illnesses to compliance. During a subsequent two-semester practicum, students work with chronically ill patients in their homes on weekly rotations to promote wellness.

This is a win-win-win for Earlham students, Reid Health, and the Wayne County area. Our students will receive additional training and experience while building relationships with our neighbors. The community will benefit from energetic, well-trained students who will serve and engage with citizens to improve health outcomes.”
