Hometown: Green Mountain, Iowa

Why Earlham: I chose to attend Earlham because I wanted to go to a college that embraces Quaker principles. I knew that I would be respected and valued. I came back to work at Earlham because I wanted to be in a place that would challenge and support me every day. Also, Earlham intentionally creates space for exploration, engagement, discovery, relationships, and growth. Accompanying students and families during the admissions process brings me joy!

Favorite Richmond spot: Hayes Arboretum

Fun fact about me: I lived in Colombia, South America, for about seven years. During that time I was an ecological tour guide, completed a Master’s in Spanish Linguistics, taught English and economics at a small university, and was an English teacher for the Colombian singer Juan Fonseca!

Works with: International students, transfer students, and students from IA and NM

Why Earlham: I wasn’t planning on going so far from home for college! But I came to an Admitted Student Day event and fell in love with Earlham. This is a quirky, lovely community and it feels like my second family.

Favorite Richmond spot: My house, which was built in 1890. We have amazing architecture!

Fun fact about me: I started our Kpop club on campus. It’s still going strong!

Why Earlham: I have loved this place since I was seven. Past Earlham professors and staff were the caring adults at my Quaker meeting. I learned to ride a bike, fly a kite and drive a car on campus.

Favorite Richmond spot: Hayes Arboretum

Fun fact about me: I can tie shoelaces like a magic trick. Yes, I will show you.

Hometown: Maine (I moved all over the state growing up!)

Why Earlham: Coming to work at Earlham was a values-driven decision for me. It is the first place I’ve worked where I can show up every day as my authentic self — unapologetically and without feeling a need to conform or “fit in.” That is refreshing for me as a woman over 50, and I can only imagine how empowering that must be for a young person still developing their own identity and place in the world.

Favorite Richmond spot: Hayes Arboretum — I love walking the trails through the woods; it’s beautiful!

Fun fact about me: I have been riding motorcycles for over 30 years. My current bike is a beauty in Earlham Red named Sombra (“Shadow” in Spanish, as she is a Honda Shadow ACE Deluxe), and I ride her to work every chance I get!

Works with students in: AL, AR, AZ, CO, FL, LA, MS, OK, SC, WV

Hometown: Richmond, IN

Why Earlham: I grew up in the Richmond area, so I have always been connected to Earlham College. It was Earlham students that helped spark my love for comic books and just being able to help share people’s stories with one another. As an Earlham student, I met so many great people I still keep in contact with who helped me through some really challenging times in my life. But thanks to the friends and faculty I met at Earlham, I was still able to get my double major and get employment immediately after graduation. Since working at Earlham, I have loved every opportunity I have had to learn more about my students’ stories.

Favorite Richmond spot: I am a sucker for the Comic Relief Comic Book Shop, as well as the Retro Rush Arcade in the Depot District. Both are great places where I can just “nerd” out, catch up on my weekly pulls and, just in general, find some people that I share some interests with.

Fun fact about me: A fun fact about me is that I usually carry a fan somewhere on me in most places. If you ever see me around, don’t be afraid to ask what fan I have that day.

Works with students in: CA, IN (South Bend & Elkhart, Northeast, East Central, East), KY, OR, WA

Hometown: Madrid, Spain

Why Earlham: The community. When I first came to Earlham, I found a family among friends and faculty who were always there to support me. After graduating, I wanted to give back to the place that shaped me and helped me grow into the professional I am today. I chose to stay because of the incredible community I had built, and my passion for sharing this wonderful place with others. Earlham is not just a college to me; it’s home.

Favorite Richmond spot: Depends on the mood. Roscoes and Thai Thara are always the best bet for food. Great food and good vibes. In the summer, I like to go to the Richmond Farmers Market and walk around the park, but Paint the Towne is my favorite activity — you get to paint ceramics and take it home.

Fun fact about me: I’ve lived in 5 countries.
