Earlham’s accounting program pairs the specialized expertise and skills you’ll need to pursue a career in accounting with the broad perspective of a human-centered liberal arts education. From auditing and work in the nonprofit sector to pursuing the CPA exam, you’ll graduate ready for a wide variety of career opportunities.

Because this major is interdisciplinary and fully integrated within our Department of Business, you’ll have the opportunity to take courses in business, economics and computer science in addition to accounting courses as you fulfill your major requirements. Our focus on global engagement and the ethics of business will prepare you to make a profound difference in the world—both as a student and in your professional life.

Outcomes

Students who major in accounting can enter careers as corporate accountants, financial analysts, business consultants or staff accountants at a public accounting firm. Students can also pursue advanced degrees in Accounting (MAcc), Business Administration (MBA) and related fields.

Every accounting major completes an internship related to their chosen field. And with the Epic Advantage, you’ll receive both funding and support for at least one significant career experience before graduation. Accounting majors at Earlham will also benefit from the professional development resources available through our Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity.

Career preparation

Our program will be designed to prepare students with the necessary accounting requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam upon completion of 150 credits (which will typically require some graduate work). Whether you’re looking to work in nonprofits or global corporations as a CPA, auditor, financial manager or a related career, you’ll be well-prepared for your future.
