Acclaimed author Ta-Nehisi Coates joining Earlham College for Black History Month lecture

Ta-Nehisi Coates, the award-winning author and journalist, will join Earlham College for a lecture during Black History Month.

The lecture begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2., in Goddard Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

Coates is the author of the bestselling books “The Beautiful Struggle,” “We Were Eight Years in Power,” “The Water Dancer,” and “Between the World and Me,” which won the National Book Award in 2015. 

As a national correspondent for The Atlantic, he gained wide recognition writing about cultural, social and political issues, particularly regarding African Americans and white supremacy.

The author also enjoyed a successful run writing Marvel’s Black Panther and Captain America comics series.

The lecture is sponsored by Earlham’s African and African American Studies program, the Center for Social Justice, and the Division of Student Life.
