I come to Earlham College with a background in performance, applied & classroom teaching, accompanying and choral directing. I was the pianist for the Richmond Symphony Orchestra for many years and am now the director for the RSO Singers – an outreach musical organization for the orchestra. My past musical experience also includes assistant musical director for a large local church and assistant director/pianist for the Whitewater Opera Company. While my primary interest is teaching, the number of performing experiences I have been a part of in this community have resulted in a solid reputation among the various organizations as a strong and versatile musician. I have a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance/Pedagogy from Bowling Green State University.
I live in South Richmond on 100 acres of woods, creek and nature with my husband Pat – also a musician – our two outdoor golden retrievers and two cats. My children are Sam and Josh, both of whom share their father’s passion and career in the Power Sports Business. Traveling, reading and playing music are always part of my passion during my spare time and also enjoying some precious time off after a long academic school year. I am very proud to be a part of this music faculty here at Earlham College.
Earlham College allows me to offer its students a variety of courses I am passionate about teaching in a positive and creative musical environment. I enjoy the interaction with students from varying backgrounds – as they teach me as much as I hope I teach them. Earlham has such a close and supportive environment, that every day I look forward to collaborating with both students and colleagues, whether it’s making music or sharing our cultural differences.
