Total Eclipse of The Heart

Earlham’s campus is in the path of totality for the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, and you’re invited to join us for an unforgettable day of celebration and learning! Prospective students and families are invited to immerse themselves in a day filled with hands-on learning at the Joseph Moore Museum (with the chance to join in on a planetarium show), enjoy lunch with the Earlham community and witness the solar eclipse (with your complimentary Earlham eclipse glasses). Finally, end your visit with carnival rides and snacks at the Total Eclipse of the Heart Carnival.

Schedule of events

Note: The Joseph Moore Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

10 a.m. – Check in at Tyler Hall.

10:15 a.m. – Join an admissions presentation (optional).

11 a.m. – Take a student-led tour (optional).

Noon – Enjoy lunch with the Earlham community. (Register separately for this free event.)

1 p.m. – Watch a planetarium show at the Joseph Moore Museum. (Register separately for this free event, and remember that there’s another show at 1:30 p.m.)

1:30 p.m. – Explore the Joseph Moore Museum activity stations. (The museum will be open from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.)

2:30 p.m. – Join the Earlham community outside with your complimentary eclipse glasses as we watch the eclipse together. (Note: The total eclipse will happen at about 3:09 p.m.)

3:30 p.m. – Join the Earlham community for the Total Eclipse of The Heart Carnival!
