Experience The Arts Weekend

Find out how you can design a college experience steeped in creativity during a weekend dedicated to the arts on the Earlham campus. Whether you imagine yourself behind the easel in an art studio, finding your groove with fellow musicians or designing the perfect set for a theatre production, this weekend is for you.

  • Enjoy a performance each evening—choir, theatre and jazzcussion, respectively.
  • Have dinner with art students.
  • Tour our Center for Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA).
  • Drop into a studio art class—ceramics, digital photography or painting.
  • Join a workshop with an Earlham professor.
  • Attend an info session with our admissions team.

Friday, Nov 10th

2:15 pm – Info Session Admissions

3:00 to 4:00 pm – Tour of Campus or Tour of CVPA
Art class – Students can come to drop in the class.
Digital Photography with Antonio McAfee in the Lilly DLAL (Library basement)
Advanced Painting with Mark Van Buskirk (CVPA 253A)
Ceramics I with Judy Wojcik (CVPA 102)

4:15 to 5:30 pm – Choir dress rehearsal where you can observe and join.

5:30 pm– Dinner with students

7:30 pm – Choir performance, Lingle Hall.

The Earlham College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers present Let the River Run – an aqueous choral review. Enjoy an evening of music about and inspired by water, including works by Alice Parker, Claudio Monteverdi, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Katerina Gimon, Eric Whitacre, Lead Belly, Carly Simon, and more. Free admission (no ticket required).

Saturday Nov 11th

2:00 to 2:30 pm – Registration CVPA

2:30 to 3:00 pm – Tour of CVPA

3:00 to 4:15 pm – Session 1

Meet and greet with Judy Wojcik, Associate Professor of Art (CVPA Atrium)- Q&A regarding the Visual Arts at Earlham College and short hands-on experience in the Ceramics Studio

Gamelan Workshop with Marc Benamou

4:15 to 5:30 pm – Session 2

Improv Theater with Lynne Perkins Socey

Interactive computer electronic music workshop with Forrest Tobey

5:30 to 7:00 pm – Dinner with students

7:30 to 9:00 pm – Theater Performance CVPA McDaniel Theater. (You get two free tickets when you register! Any additional tickets are only $5.)

Sunday Nov 12th

1:30pm – 5:00pm – Open Rehearsal with guest artist Arthur Lipner and the Earlham Jazz and Percussion programs. In CVPA (Lingle Recital Hall). *Come and go as you wish.

7:00pm – JazzCussion Fall 2023 CVPA Lingle Recital Hall

*Join the Earlham Percussion and Jazz programs in concert with special guest artist and composer Arthur Lipner. This high energy family-friendly performance includes many compositions by Lipner and other popular selections that are sure to please. Free admission (no ticket required).
