Theatre Arts Scholarship
Earlham sees theatre as an essential part of the human experience; stories brought to life through imagination and shared in community can transport and transform us. The Department of Theatre Arts teaches Earlham students to create theatre that elicits empathy, challenges the intellect, and encourages intentional decision-making. The faculty strive to develop interdisciplinary theatre artists with a personal sense of responsibility to the communities in which they will live and work.
This scholarship ranges from $1,000 to $2,500 per year and is renewable for up to four years.
Eligible students must be accepted to and enroll at Earlham as part of the fall entering class and plan to participate in theater arts classes and/or productions.
Please note: Students receiving funds from the INspire Earlham Program can apply for this scholarship but are not eligible for additional funding since tuition is already covered by the INspire Earlham Program.
Recipients are chosen by the faculty in the theatre art department based on academic achievement in high school, audition submission and completed application form.
Scholarship renewal criteria
To remain eligible, you must maintain a 2.0 GPA, participate in one departmental theatre production and take one academic theatre class per year (this excludes practicum or applied theatre credit) OR take two academic theatre classes.
Additional scholarship opportunity for Indiana students
The Rariden Scholarship is awarded annually to one student entering Earlham who is interested in pursuing an area within the visual and performing arts—art, music or theatre. Preference is given to a student from Wayne County, Indiana, although the selection committee will consider Indiana students from outside the county as well. The scholarship is $5,000 per year for four years at Earlham, totaling $20,000.
In addition, the Len Holvig and Anna Morrisett awards offer financial assistance for singers and pianists as well as numerous awards for private lessons.
