Creative Writing Scholarship

Our Creative Writing Scholarship supports students who are passionate about storytelling — those eager to explore new voices, refine their craft, and share their ideas with the world.

Scholarship Amount

This scholarship is $2,500 per year and is renewable for up to four years.

Eligibility

Eligible students must be accepted to and enroll at Earlham as part of the fall entering class and plan to major or minor in English or creative writing.

Selection Process

Recipients are selected by the Creative Writing faculty based on the quality and originality of their submitted work, academic achievement in high school, and the strength of their application materials. Finalists will be invited to participate in Scholarship Day for final consideration.

Interview accommodations, including virtual options, may be available for international students and, in limited cases, for domestic students unable to travel to campus.

Renewal Criteria

To remain eligible, you must maintain a 2.0 GPA and either take a creative writing course or participate as a student editor for The Crucible, Earlham’s literary magazine, for at least one semester.
