Clerk of the Faculty

The Clerk of the Faculty sets the agenda for and facilitates faculty meetings. The Clerk fields agenda items from College leadership and faculty, primarily through a Convener’s Meeting attended by Conveners of Standing Committees and key administrators, then communicates the Faculty Meeting agenda to faculty and observers in advance of each meeting. After each Faculty Meeting, the Clerk confers with the Recording Clerk to ensure the accuracy of the minutes. Working with the Registrar’s Office, they set the annual schedule for faculty meetings. Additionally, they consult on college governance, processes of discernment and faculty consultation, and consensus as needed. The Clerk serves as a faculty liaison to the Board of Trustees during their term, and in consultation with the President, they may serve on College Council. Former Clerks often make themselves available for consultation with the current Clerk on matters of governance, and if a Clerk is unable to facilitate a faculty meeting, a former Clerk may be asked to serve as a substitute. Given the time-intensive nature of this position, it may require adjustment to other faculty duties during the term of service. Term is one year, with a possible one-year extension.
