Javanese Gamelan Fall Concert

Join us for our fall gamelan concert, which will feature calm, contemplative, and rousing music as well as a choral rendition of a famous nineteenth-century Javanese poem of moral and political protest by the court poet Ranggawarsita, titled “Living in a Time of Madness.” (A gamelan is a large set of traditional Indonesian instruments, mostly tuned, bronze percussion, but also a plucked zither, a bamboo flute, drums, and other elements such as singing.)
