The stars of our show

Entrepreneurship for social justice

Christine John | Majors: Peace and Global Studies, Entrepreneurship

“Earlham encourages us to take what we learn in the classroom and apply it out in the real world. In my short time at Earlham, I’ve met plenty of people doing just that, whether it’s through clubs that address housing inequality in the locality or through starting initiatives that address environmental issues. I’ve also participated in the Earlham & Dimick Eastman Grand Challenge, a startup competition that focuses on local entrepreneurship.”

REAL COMMUNITY IMPACT

Med School PRep

Exploring the human side of medicine

Aouss Azzouz | Major: Biochemistry

“The medical humanities applied minor integrates the ethics, history, and cultural understandings of medicine. It’s been essential in helping me to understand healthcare from a comprehensive perspective.”

I paid zero extra tuition to study abroad

Skyler Murray | Major: Biochemistry

“My time in London has been one of the highlights of my time here. I thought it would be so expensive, but with Earlham’s help, it ended up being the same price as if I were studying on campus. I got to immerse myself in different cultures and grow as a person.”

International Perspectives

Belonging

Finding community through academics, athletics & queerness

Em Tallitsch | Major: Environmental Sustainability

“I spoke on belonging at Earlham in three ways: with my identity as someone who’s nonbinary, with my soccer team and with academics. My academic journey has brought me many struggles, but I don’t think I’d have gotten the same support I’ve gotten here if I’d gone to another university. My professors see me for who I am and my intelligence.”

Living into Quaker values through community farming

Jonny Costello | Major: Environmental Sustainability

“For me, I wanted to emphasize Earlham’s Quaker culture and community efforts and how Miller Farm reflects that in its values. The farm has taught me to find value in everyone.”

EXPERIENTIAL AGRICULTURE

Equestrian Program

Creating a custom major & caring for horses

Eloise Richardson | Major: Anthrozoology

“I knew I wanted to work with animals combining biology and psychology and my advisor has been incredibly helpful and supportive. She helped me create my own major, Anthrozoology, which is the study of human and non-human animal interactions…Additionally, I started horseback riding when I was 10 so going to a college with an equestrian program was a huge draw for me because it means I can ride almost year-round as a member of Earlham’s barn co-op and equestrian team.”

I created a student organization that celebrates my culture

Maro Imieye | Major: Computer Science

“I feel like one of my biggest accomplishments that I wanted to talk about was that as a freshman I was one of the people who formed the African Student Association and was also part of the student advisory council for Black students.”

Campus Life

Academic Opportunities

Small classes and STEM majors

Nour Al-Sheikh | Major: Computer Science

“Smaller class sizes offer invaluable time with professors and personalized feedback. We have applied groups in Computer Science like the web development team where we build websites and maintain them for the community. I’m also actively involved in the Google Developer student club where I’ve collaborated on a project with my peers for the Center of Science and Technology.”

Succeeding as a first-gen college student

Sami Zaroui | Majors: Business & Theater Arts

“Earlham’s LIFT program gave me advice on paper writing, resources to work on school work. Even though I’m completing two degrees in four years, I’ve been able to start my own club, be in a band, and build sets for theater because of what the LIFT program has given me.”

College Readiness
