Outdoor Education at Earlham has given me confidence, the ability to work with those from many different backgrounds and mindsets, and the adaptability to handle whatever comes my way. It also introduced me to some of my best friends!
—Andrew Belec
Having a management position in Outdoor Ed, specifically at the Climbing Wall, replicates the responsibilities I would bear as the same type of employee after college and gives a very good glimpse into the realistic features of jobs.
—Val Shumakov
Working for the Student Sustainability Corps has allowed me to pursue my interests in environmental sustainability while also having the chance to carry out projects and ideas thanks to the support from the CEL and my SSC counterparts.
—MJ Easley
Working in the CEL has provided a vibrant community centered around shared interests, as well as giving me an opportunity to practice leadership skills that I will need after graduation.
—Berto Edwards
Working for Outdoor Education has granted me the opportunity to improve my leadership skills and get to know other students. It’s given me an idea of what a career in outdoor education can look like and how fulfilling it is.
—Eloise Boigenzahn
Getting to be a part of the Student Sustainability Corps allows me to see how an event or project I am working on can make a change on campus and have a direct impact on how people experience and act in the world.
—Martha Barefoot-Yeager
Through my involvement with CEL, I’ve been introduced to a community of adventurous and welcoming people, which as a first-year has had a huge impact on me. I’m very grateful for these connections and to share a spirit for adventure.
—Meryl Pawlick
I will use my experiences with Outdoor Ed, Miller Farm, and others on campus with vast knowledge of the environment, for the rest of my life, even as a Computer Science major!
—Jarred Costa
My work at Miller Farm makes me proud because I know I’m contributing to the health and happiness of my community.
