Choral music ensembles

From Choir Concert to Chamber Singers, Earlham College offers a wide variety of choral ensembles for students interested in honing their vocal skills with a group.

Concert Choir

Open to all students of all skill levels, this SATB ensemble performs widely varied repertoire, both secular and sacred, from throughout Western music history, as well as music from non-Western traditions. Recent masterworks performances include Bernstein’s Mass, Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, and Shaw’s The Listeners. The Concert Choir enjoys regular collaborative performances on campus and throughout the greater community as well as annual regional tours to cities like Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Chicago.

Gospel Revelations

This ensemble performs traditional and contemporary African-American gospel music, both a cappella and accompanied. On-campus and outreach performances include Soul to Sole, Gospel Revs’ yearly collaboration with Dance Alloy, Earlham’s student-led dance troupe.

Chamber Singers

Open to current members of Concert Choir by audition, this select small SATB ensemble performs both cutting-edge contemporary repertoire as well as early choral music by composers such as Thomas Tallis, Guillaume de Machaut, and Thomas Morley. Recent works of note include selections from Shaw’s Partita for 8 Voices, Van’s A Procession Winding Around Me, and Ferdinand’s A Choral Triptych. Chamber Singers has participated in master classes with professional ensembles including the Rose Ensemble, the Northminster Presbyterian Chamber Ensemble, and Circle City Chamber Choir.
