Summer Housing

Earlham College offers its enrolled students the opportunity to live on-campus during the summer months while they participate in May Term courses, pursue research with our faculty or work as summer college employees. Summer housing is only available to students who are enrolled in the college — students who have graduated or who have yet to begin their studies on campus are not able to live on campus during the summer.
Any enrolled student interested in applying for summer housing should complete the Summer Housing application on the Housing Portal. Priority assignment will be given to students who apply by or before April 27. All students who want to transition directly from their spring room to their summer room must apply by April 27; any applications submitted after that date wanting a direct transition from spring to summer will incur a $75.00 late fee. All requests should be received no sooner than a week before the requested check-in date.
Summer housing is billed at $100 per week (7 nights).
Students who will be in summer housing for more than 7 nights will also be billed a one-time programming fee of $15.
Students who submit their applications AFTER April 27 may be charged a $75 late application fee.
Summer Housing for all students will be located in Earlham Hall for the 2026 Summer Term. Students who are staying all or most of the summer will receive priority placement.
Placement in preferred spaces will be based on the total number of earned credit hours. Applications received after the priority due date of April 27th will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. Students can indicate their preferences for room type and roommates on the application.
The Office of Residence Life coordinates with students who are moving directly into their summer housing after the conclusion of the spring semester to ensure a smooth transition. Students will be able to stay in their current spring semester room after the end of the semester as Earlham College staff prepare their summer housing room for occupancy. All students who want to transition directly from their spring room to their summer room must apply by the due date above; any applications after that date for direct transition from spring to summer will incur a late fee.
At the end of the summer housing term, students will have the option to extend their summer housing contract and transition to their fall on-campus room, if they are living on campus. The Office of Residence Life will work with students to achieve a seamless transition.
The Office of Residence Life coordinates events and programs designed to build and sustain community throughout the summer for students living on-campus. On-campus living at Earlham College values building relationships between its residents as a continuing part of each student’s education. As part of this, each student living on-campus pays a one-time program fee that sustains these activities and events. Resident assistants work with summer residents to plan these events and are always looking for ideas from the greater community.
Metz Culinary Management is proud to partner with Earlham College and this year they will provide a free lunch to all summer housing students Monday through Friday on days when the college is opened.
Any student who is living in summer housing is eligible. Students not living in summer housing are welcome to buy lunch at the door.
Summer housing students should anticipate being responsible for providing the rest of their meals.
