Skyler Murray, a senior from Centerville Senior High School in Centerville, Indiana, has been awarded Earlham College’s Wayne County Student of the Month Scholarship.

The new $12,000 scholarship—$3,000 per year—is awarded to one outstanding local student per year to support their enrollment at the College. As part of the initiative, Earlham’s Office of Admissions has recognized six outstanding students from Wayne County who were accepted to Earlham. Murray plans to pursue a pre-med program at Earlham and has been recruited to play on Earlham’s volleyball program by Head Coach and Senior Woman Administrator Lauren Horton.

“I had no idea where I was going to college,” Murray admits. “When Lauren reached out to me, Earlham became a real option.”

Murray said she was attracted to Earlham for its Epic program, which offers every student access to a funded internship, research or community-based project, virtually anywhere in the world.

“I also like that Earlham is close to home,” she said. “I know not everybody wants that, but I like that my family can come and support my games.”

Murray is one of Centerville Senior High School’s top students. She was inducted into the school’s chapter of the National Honors Society, and participates in student government and the LEO Club.
