Ta-Nehisi Coates, the award-winning author and journalist, will join Earlham College for a lecture during Black History Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lecture begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2., in Goddard Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coates is the author of the bestselling books \u201cThe Beautiful Struggle,\u201d \u201cWe Were Eight Years in Power,\u201d \u201cThe Water Dancer,\u201d and \u201cBetween the World and Me,\u201d which won the National Book Award in 2015. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a national correspondent for The Atlantic, he gained wide recognition writing about cultural, social and political issues, particularly regarding African Americans and white supremacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The author also enjoyed a successful run writing Marvel\u2019s Black Panther and Captain America comics series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lecture is sponsored by Earlham’s African and African American Studies<\/a> program, the Center for Social Justice<\/a>, and the Division of Student Life<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
