Earlham College\u2019s Black History Month celebration continues with a showcase of local artists on Sunday, Feb. 26. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBlack History: Innocent, Pure & Acknowledgement\u201d will feature appearances by local performers at Lingle Recital Hall in the Center for Visual and Performing Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The free event takes place from 3-4:30 p.m. It is sponsored by Earlham, Townsend Community Center, Inc., Indiana University East and Ivy Tech Community College Richmond. No tickets are required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to welcome the local community for a celebration of Black History Month through the arts,\u201d said Gene Hambrick, a member of the planning and committee and the senior executive director of Earlham\u2019s Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re fortunate to bring together so many talented performers who embody Black excellence in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Performances include Earlham College\u2019s Gospel Revelations<\/a> choir (pictured above), the Mt. Moriah Pastor\u2019s Choir, visual artist Charles Guess, dancer Charise Mabry, and poets from the Wayne County Writers organization. Additional performances are expected.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have so much talent in Richmond and Wayne County and we\u2019re excited to bring them together for a celebration of Black History Month on Earlham\u2019s campus,\u201d said Dr. Lucinda Wright, president of Townsend Center, Inc., and a member of the planning committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTownsend Community Center has a proud history in Richmond going back 102 years,\u201d said Lucinda Wright, president of Townsend Center, Inc. \u201cEncouraging community involvement and collaboration for an event like this is what we\u2019re all about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Light refreshments will be provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
