Faculty-led research <\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

At the center of the Epic journey, the Epic Advantage guarantees every Earlham student the opportunity to pursue a donor-funded, career-discerning experience before graduation. This could take the shape of a faculty-led research project somewhere in the world, a student-initiated internship with an organization of their choice or a certificate program that helps launch their career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hadrian’s Wall<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Students traveled to Scotland and England in 2019 to hike Hadrian\u2019s Wall, the ancient barrier that marked the northwest border of the Roman Empire, and complete self-designed projects relevant to their majors.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Animal behavior and conservation in the Tarangire Region<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Through this program, students joined faculty members Brent Smith and Wendy Tori on a camping safari in and around the Tarangire region of northern Tanzania, observing wildlife and conducting behavioral research on an animal of choice.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Global Health Abroad<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Earlham\u2019s Center for Global Health frequently sponsors research in locations around the globe. Recent projects have included working with the Foundation for the International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) in Costa Rica and Peru.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Edinburgh Fringe<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Department of Theatre Arts adapted the script, created costumes, original music, props\u2014including a bird with a 16-foot wingspan\u2014and more for a production of \u201cThe Misadventures of Martin Hathaway.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then they carried everything to Scotland in suitcases for four performances during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of an Epic Advantage program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
