Public Safety is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment by providing effective, efficient and consistent service to every member of the college community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public Safety is an integral part of campus life and on duty 24 hours a day, year-round, patrolling campus and responding to emergencies and requests for assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For life-threatening emergencies<\/strong> needing fire, police or medical assistance, members of the community are requested to call<\/strong> 911<\/strong> immediately and then notify Public Safety afterward. For non-life-threatening incidents and requests for assistance, contact Public Safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Campus Public Safety Officers have the full authority granted by Earlham College to enforce the rules and regulations as outlined in the student, staff and faculty handbooks. They have the authority to detain persons and request identification and will immediately involve the Richmond Police Department if criminal activity is observed or reported. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only 24-hour office on campus, public safety receives and dispatches calls for assistance, monitors alarm systems, documents campus activity, provides information, issues new or replacement ID cards, issues parking permits (student, employee and visitor) and answers the main campus switchboard.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n
