Move-In Spring 2021

On behalf of the Office of Residence Life and Earlham College, we are excited to welcome you to your home away from home at Earlham!  We know that move-in can be a stressful time for our students and their families and we want you to feel as confident in the process as possible.  Our Residence Life staff is ready to welcome you and support your transition to Earlham. Refer to the links below and to the left for more information about move in, what to bring/not to bring, and to find answers to many of your housing-related questions.

New Student Move-In Information

New student move-in day is Friday, January 29, 2021.

10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Student Life Office

New students will pick up their key and their New Student Orientation information and schedule from staff members stationed in our main office located on the first floor of Earlham Hall. All students are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within the 10 days prior to their arrival. Volunteers will not be available to assist with unloading and moving items into rooms.

Starting at 9:00 p.m. - Your Assigned Residence Hall

Starting at 9:00 p.m., new students will pick up their key and their New Student Orientation information and schedule fromthe on-call staff within their assigned residence hall. On-call staff carry a college phone that can be used to contact them.  These numbers are posted near the entrances of each hall.  Public Safety (765-983-1400) can also help you get in contact with the on-call staff member in your hall to assist you.  All students are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within the 10 days prior to their arrival. Volunteers will not be available to assist with unloading and moving items into rooms.

New students are able to request an early arrival of no earlier than Thursday, January 28, 2021 if they wish to move-in to campus sooner than Move-In Day on Friday, January 29, 2021.  All students moving-in early are charged an early arrival fee* of $50 per night.  New students wishing to request an early arrival should complete this Early Arrival Request Form no later than Monday, January 25, 2021.

*Note: some groups may be exempt from the early arrival fee.  These include (but are not limited to):

  • New international students arriving beginning Thursday, January 28, 2021
  • Winter and spring athletes participating in practices beginning before Friday, January 29, 2021 (check with your coach to confirm your practice schedule and move-in date)

New students who wish to arrive prior to Thursday, January 28, 2021 should email reslife@earlham.edu with information about their situation so staff can evaluate whether or not the request can be approved.

Please contact our office if you have any questions about arriving early.

New students who have completed their housing application and alcohol assessment will receive their roommate assignments in December 2020.  Assignments are made based on information provided in the roommate profiles contained in the housing application accessible through the Housing Portal.  Students are encouraged to contact their roommate prior to move-in to learn more about them and to discuss what each is planning to bring.

Room change requests for the spring 2021 semester will be processed beginning mid-February 2021.

After a new student has checked in with Residence Life and picked up the key to their room, they are able to pick up their student ID card from Public Safety staff.  This ID card allows students to access their residence hall and to use their meal plan.

Returning Student Move-In Information

Returning student move-in day is Saturday, January 30, 2021 and Sunday, January 31, 2021.

10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. - Student Life Office

All returning students, including those who lived on-campus during the fall semester and are returning from break, are required to check-in with Residence Life staff.  All students are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within the 10 days prior to their arrival.

Returning students are able to request an early arrival of no earlier than Friday, January 29, 2021 if they wish to move-in to campus sooner than Returning Student Move-In Day on Saturday, January 30, 2021.  All students moving-in early are charged an early arrival fee* of $50 per night.  Returning students to request an early arrival should complete this Early Arrival Request Form by Monday, January 25, 2021.
