Ali is an international student adviser and J-1 scholar adviser in the Center for Global and Career Education. Before joining Earlham in 2006, she lived and worked in Hokkaido, Japan, for a year as an assistant English teacher through the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. Ali earned an M.S. in college student services administration with a focus on international education at Oregon State University (OSU). She also holds a B.S. in cultural anthropology and linguistics from OSU and a B.G.S. with an emphasis in social work from Ball State University. Before pursuing her career in international education, she worked for a number of years in the mental health field and did a brief stint as a travel agent. Ali helps students and visitors obtain F-1 or J-1 visas, educates them on visa regulations and Earlham policies, and advises and supports them throughout their time at Earlham and beyond. She's passionate about helping students and visitors navigate the rules and systems in a way that best helps them thrive and achieve their goals.
