Created to provide outdoor leaders with the knowledge needed to deal with crises in remote settings, WFR is an 80-hour certification course that meets all DOT national standards for First Responder with additional protocols for extended care situations. The curriculum includes protocols for patient assessment, extended care, and wilderness rescue. (2 credits)
For Credit Application: to apply for WFR for credit, register during Spring course registration or contact the Registrar's office. Please note that the WFA/WFR Recertify course is not credit eligible.

Wilderness First Responder (WFR) takes place during the first 10 days of May Term and is taught by Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO), a globally recognized wilderness medicine school. New participants can receive their WFR certification and past participants can re-certify during the first 2
days of the course.
