EPIC Advantage Development Fund
The EPIC Advantage Development Fund provides a limited number of grants to faculty who need funding to support the development of an EPIC Advantage Research or Project experience.
Any member of the Earlham College teaching and administrative faculty is eligible to apply. Faculty who apply should anticipate that they will remain at Earlham long enough to offer an EPIC Advantage experience two years after the planning experience occurs. A person who chooses to leave the College before offering an EPIC Advantage experience after having received a grant may be asked to return the funds.
Faculty should explain how the requested funding will directly support the development of an EPIC Advantage research or project experience. Funding is available for expenses, but not for faculty stipends. Examples of possible requests include (but are not limited to) funding for: books and materials directly relevant to the proposed or conceptualized EPIC Advantage experience; travel to determine logistics and to make on-site contacts for a successful experience; attendance at relevant conferences or workshops that will help prepare the faculty person to lead an EPIC Advantage experience, and so on.
Funding is limited and we want to provide support to as many faculty as possible. Applications for grants up to $6,000 per program will be accepted. Funding will be expense-based.
Faculty who receive this funding will submit a report that describes how their completed activities contributed to the further development and conceptualization of an EPIC Advantage experience. The report also should include a completed expense spreadsheet and receipts supporting the expenditures.
Due to the expectation that faculty who receive these funds are working toward the development of an EPIC Advantage research or project experience, continued consultation with the EPIC Advantage team toward this end is expected after faculty have received this funding.
Applying for funding
You can apply for funding via our online application. The application deadline is February 1. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of employees involved in EPIC coordination and recommendations for funding will be made to the Academic Dean.
