Natasha Trethewey is a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and the 19th United States Poet Laureate (2012 - 2014). Trethwey is the author of five poetry collections including her most recent work, Monument (2018), which was longlisted for the 2018 National Book Award. Monument links the human struggles and resilience of African-American women throughout history to the collective trauma of national wounds.
