DESCRIPTION:Join us for our fall gamelan concert\, which will feature calm\, contemplative\, and rousing music as well as a choral rendition of a famous nineteenth-century Javanese poem of moral and political protest by the court poet Ranggawarsita\, titled “Living in a Time of Madness.” (A gamelan is a large set of traditional Indonesian instruments\, mostly tuned\, bronze percussion\, but also a plucked zither\, a bamboo flute\, drums\, and other elements such as singing.)
