3,299 gifts. $1,000,001 dollars raised.
Earlhamites are resilient. They've modeled this since 1847, and on Earlham Day 2020, it was no different. The community faced the challenge of a giving day in the midst of economic uncertainties and a pandemic — and the community persevered.
Thanks to a $200 match established by a group of generous alumni, two challenges for graduates of the last decade, and a final anonymous donor who came in and pushed us over the $1 million mark, more Earlhamites than ever before were inspired to come forward and make gifts. The College is appreciative toward these amazing individuals:
- Georges `63 and Shorty `61 Birenbaum
- Polly Dawkins '87 and Nico Brooks '91
- Linda Ganzini and Ron Heintz
- Philip Greenwald `77
- Ken Hellendall `77
- David '76 and Sallie Jones
- Judy Kessinger '60
- Stephen '63 and Beth '64 Ronald
- Alan '74 and Peg '74 Scantland
- Russell Scott `71
- David Stump `72
For the first time, Earlham Day featured a series of live, virtual presentations and discussions with several of EC's outstanding faculty and alumni, and a first-ever virtual Earlham Day Alumni Concert.
The outpouring of love for EC was visible across social media, in the emails and videos and excitement shared. During a time when we all need a bit of good news and to feel connected with community, Earlham Day 2020 gave us that chance. Thank you for gathering together across the globe, celebrating the College we love, and supporting current and future Earlhamites.
