Class of 1984

Each autumn, Earlham hosts its Homecoming and Reunion Weekend. It has two names because it is meant to do two things. A homecoming is about nurturing our relationship to the place and community that is Earlham, and a reunion is about nurturing our relationships to and with each other as friends and classmates. For us as the Class of 1984, forty years is a long time. In the spirit of Homecoming, there’s a whole new Earlham for us to discover today, but it’s still a place that provides a living and learning experience of higher education that is transformative. We’re inviting you to come back and experience Earlham – and each other – anew. In October 1984, Stevie Wonder topped the charts with his best-selling single ever. Echoing him, and in the spirit of Reunion, we’re just calling to say We Love You! Looking ahead now to October 2024, we invite you to connect: with each other, with our memories, with the place we called home. Also in October ‘84, the first move in a very successful franchise was released, and in it,  Schwarzenegger uttered a catch phrase that rings down through the years. We hope you are looking forward to our 40^th Reunion at Earlham College and are saying about it, to yourself and your friends, “I’ll be back.”

Since 1984, more than 20 classmates have passed away. This is a time to come together to hold them, and each other, in the light, as we honor their memories.
