Peer tutoring

Through the AEC, Earlham offers tutoring, mentoring and coaching for free to all students in pursuit of academic excellence. Our goal is to help you become a better learner through engagement with our trained peer tutors.

The AEC provides group tutoring sessions for various math and science courses taken by many first-year students. Students enrolled in courses with group tutoring sessions are notified about such tutoring by the AEC and their professors.

You may also request one-on-one tutors for courses not supported by group tutoring sessions or the Writing Center. You can request tutoring for up to two hours per course each week. You and your tutor determine the tutoring schedule.

GROUP TUTORING SESSIONS

The AEC provides group tutoring sessions for various math and science courses taken by many first-year students. Students enrolled in courses with group tutoring sessions are notified about such tutoring by the AEC and their professors.

These sessions are held at the Center for Science and Technology (CST). The tutors are trained undergraduate students who have demonstrated mastery in the subject they tutor. Tutors are available Sunday-Thursday; the daily hours vary. Specific subject and tutor availability are posted online, at CST, at the AEC and in applicable syllabi.

ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING

Students may request one-on-one tutors for courses not supported by group tutoring sessions or the Writing Center. Students may request tutoring for up to two hours per course each week. The student and tutor determine the tutoring schedule.

Students seeking a one-on-one tutor should submit a request using our online form. The AEC staff matches students to a tutor and provides all parties with the information needed to schedule their first tutoring session. The AEC also informs professors about the match.
