Global perspectives and performance opportunities

The Earlham College Music Department offers a wide range of courses in music within the context of the liberal arts tradition. Our music majors study both Western and non-Western music, and students from all disciplines participate in our many classes and performing ensembles. The department prides itself on innovative approaches to teaching and a full range of courses in ethnomusicology.

Music majors are able to pursue other areas of interest, including off-campus study and double majors in other fields. Grounded in a broad-based liberal arts curriculum, nearly half of Earlham alumni pursue advanced degrees within 10 years of graduation. Earlhamites have attended graduate degrees in music at Indiana University, University of North Texas, University of Hawaii, Yale and elsewhere.
