Symphony Orchestra in Concert

Orchestra -hpThe Earlham Symphony presents works for the Western orchestra inspired by Asian cultures. Included will be the 30-minute opera Savitri by Gustav Holst with a story from the Indian epic — The Mahabharata, Tobey's Mandala Offering for orchestra and electronics — influenced by his study of Tibetan Buddhism, Modeste Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain — reflecting pagan aspects of Russian culture, and works by composers such as Tan Dun of China, Takemitsu of Japan, and others.

Free admission, no tickets required. Limited seating available.
