Lecture: "Place based learning: Japanese Contexts"

As part of Earlham's faculty exchange program with Waseda University well known scholar of place based and outdoor education and professor at Waseda Univeristy Takako Takano presents  a lecture on her research and work about place and community based learning in Japan. Professor Takano presents an overview of place-based education in the context of sustainability and critiques on formal education in general. Takano also discusses Japanese rural-urban relationships and the potential educational elements of Japanese farming communities.
