Assistant Professor of Mathematics (Tenure-Track)

Earlham College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Mathematics, a tenure-track position beginning in August 2019. The position is open to candidates in any area of mathematics, and Earlham would prefer someone comfortable teaching courses across the math curriculum.
The College offers several forms of professional development support, including conference travel funds, summer research grants, pre-tenure sabbatical leave, and assistance with applications for external grants.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- The teaching load is three courses per semester; small class sizes are typical.
- The College also offers a number of interdisciplinary programs that include African and African American Studies, Global Management, Environmental Sustainability, Peace and Global Studies, and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. The ability to contribute to these programs or to the Mathematics Department’s close ties with Physics and Computer Science, or to expanding collaboration with other departments or programs is a plus.
Experience & Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field is required.
- The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching mathematics to a wide variety of students, interested in engaging in research with students, committed to participating in the larger Earlham community, and will have a plan for continued scholarly work.
