Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics (Two Positions)

Earlham College invites applications for two full-time Visiting Assistant Professorships in Mathematics.
- A three-year position in applied mathematics (Fall 2018 – Spring 2021).
- A two-year position (Fall 2018 – Spring 2020) replacing a faculty member on leave. It is possible this position may be extended to three years. This position is open to candidates in any area of mathematics, but we prefer someone comfortable teaching courses across the curriculum.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be passionate about teaching Mathematics to a wide variety of students, interested in engaging with students on research, and committed to participating in the larger Earlham community, and will have a plan for continued scholarly work. The College anticipates a tenure-track position that will start in Fall 2019.
Earlham College offers a number of interdisciplinary programs including African and African American Studies, Global Management, Environmental Sustainability, Peace and Global Studies, and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. The ability to contribute to these programs or to the Mathematics Department’s close relationships and collaborations with Physics and Computer Science, or to expanding collaboration with other departments or programs is a plus.
Experience & Qualifications
A Ph.D. or ABD in Mathematics or a related field is preferred.
