Theory to Practice

Earlham’s commitment to mutual exploration extends beyond the classroom. We offer students countless opportunities to apply academic knowledge in real-world settings.

We cultivate a culture of discovery that helps students thrive as well-rounded, thoughtful and compassionate leaders who are intent on improving the world. Whether studying birds in the Ecuadorian rain forest, investigating the treasures of Earlham’s art collection, or crafting a social media plan for a local government office, our students collaborate with professors on scholarly research, beginning in sophomore year. Student projects often result in presentations at academic conferences or publications in scholarly journals.

Students also put their learning into practice through internships, work-study positions and by leading campus committees and organizations that grow out of their passions.
