Create your future. Shape your world.
The Sustainability Office's mission is to enhance the teaching and learning experience at Earlham in relation to sustainability issues. The Sustainability Office is located in the Center for Integrated Learning and works collaboratively across the campus to promote sustainability in the curriculum, the co-curriculum, and the operations of the college. The central focus of the Center is to develop and promote experiential learning opportunities both on and off-campus for students and faculty.
The Office of Sustainability acts as a catalyst for sustainability on campus through our Student Sustainability Corps, a yearly film and speaker series, sustainability grant programs, "learning laboratory" projects and much more.
Earlham's commitment to Quaker principles of simplicity and respect for others, including the natural world, is reflected in the actions of individuals in the community and by Earlham as an institution. Sustainability at Earlham is guided by the Comprehensive Sustainability Plan for the college.
The central educational approach of the Office is "in the environment, about the environment, and for the environment." A variety of field programs are offered to promote this form of teaching, learning and living.
The Office initiaties and supports collaborative research and study on environmentally related topics both on and off-campus. Funding is available to both students and faculty under the SEED and SAR mini-grant programs.
