Gene Hambrick
Director of the Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Executive in Residence

Earlham offers the opportunity for students and faculty to engage in what Gene Hambrick considers a process of discovery that is both theoretical and practical. Himself an Earlham alum, Hambrick lauds the College for valuing diversity, including the diversity of ideas.

Hambrick’s research interests include entrepreneurial marketing and the marketing of consumer products. Recently he is intrigued by the social entrepreneurship of Anita Roddick, creative capitalism of Bill Gates, and the Plan B initiative of Richard Branson.

My broad area of scholarly interest is in the area of Marketing; especially consumer products and entrepreneurial marketing. Most recently, I have begun work in the areas of social entrepreneurship (Anita Roddick); with a special interest in Creative Capitalism (Bill Gates) and Plan B (Richard Branson).

Earlham is a unique place that allows students and faculty to engage in a journey of theoretical and practical educational discovery. It continues to be an institution that values diversity; both in the traditional sense and in the notion of diversity of ideas. Earlham is a place that values the integration of curricular and co-curricular activities. "You can learn as much inside the classroom, as outside of the classroom." The learning outcomes of critical thinking skills, ability to research areas of known and unknown areas of interest and communication skills are valued. I enjoy teaching in this type of environment.

Diverse. Intellectually curious.  Range from conservative to idealistic. On any given day, the range of students could be in a given class. A joy to be around.

Tennis. Volunteerism in under served and under-represented communities.

Earlham College, an independent, residential college, aspires to provide the highest-quality undergraduate education in the liberal arts, including the sciences, shaped by the distinctive perspectives of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
