How To Participate
The Step into Spring Challenge is open to Earlham College faculty, staff, and students.
You may walk or complete an activity anywhere, anytime, Monday-Sunday. Those who complete the 30-day challenge will have walked a minimum of 300,000 steps (or roughly 120-150 miles). If you need help calculating your steps you can download this activity chart to help. Challenge yourself to take a 30-minute walk with a colleague or friend at lunch time or a 5-minute walk each hour—it all counts—whatever works for you!
To participate in the Step into Spring Challenge, log your daily steps on a weekly form to be submitted through e-mail to Jason Fleenor Fleenja@earlham.edu. If you cannot get 10,000 steps in a day, you may make up these steps on other days. All participants logging a minimum of 70,000 steps weekly (10,000 steps a day) will be entered into a prize drawing.
To track your weekly steps, the Earlham College Wellness Programs will be providing free pedometers for use with this challenge. They are available for pickup at the Athletics and Wellness Center front desk. If you have an activity tracker that tracks daily steps, you may use that as well. If you would like to use your cell phone you can download Accupedo to use as a pedometer.
