Mark Merkens '68

Merkens _markMark Merkens '68 majored in Chemistry. At Earlham he was president of the Outing Club, business manager of WECI, a southern senator in Finnian's Rainbow, and a student on Germany/Austria foreign study.

Mark is a developmental pediatrician at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, where he teaches and works with children with chronic illness. He hikes, Nordic skis, and kayaks.

He joined the Alumni Council in 2007 and is convener of the Recognition Committee. Favorite memories of Earlham include marrying Louise Sherwin Merkens '69 in Stout Meetinghouse and watching daughter Karlina '04 walk the stage.
