The Environmental Leadership Program
Earlham’s Environmental Leadership Program is home to many environmentally themed experiential learning opportunities designed to develop practical skills and cultivate leadership potential in students, including our August Wilderness program for first-year students. The Environmental Leadership Program is housed on the second floor of Dennis Hall.
The Student Sustainability Corps leads efforts to reduce Earlham’s environmental impact. In 2016, Earlham jumped from a bronze to a silver ranking in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS).
Since 1971, Earlham has been at the forefront of training and developing outdoor leaders and educators with a unique, liberal arts approach to outdoor and experiential education.
Sustainable agriculture has a long history at Earlham as a means of experiential education and of sustainable living and learning exploration for students. The Miller Farm program has been in operation since the 1970s as a not-for-credit residential student cooperative. Learn about what’s been happening at Miller Farm.
